Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia.
We support people affected by myasthenia, raise awareness about these conditions, fund research to find new therapies to reduce the impact of the conditions and ultimately find a cure.
We are the myasthenia community.
What is myasthenia?
Myasthenia is a neurological condition, which is characterised by fluctuating, sometimes potentially fatal, muscle weakness. It is a lifelong condition that can affect anyone at any age and there are an estimated 12,000 people living with myasthenia in the UK. Myasthenia can be treated and managed, but there is no cure.
Myaware covers the whole of the UK providing support via support events, online services, and specialist welfare advice and counselling services. This includes specialist support groups for children living with myasthenia (up to age 18) and young adults living with the condition (aged 18-39). We currently support 3,000 people living with myasthenia, their families and carers. Without myaware, most of our members would not otherwise meet or have contact with another person with myasthenia.
You are changing lives by playing our raffle.
We rely on voluntary donations to fund our work. By purchasing lottery tickets, you are ensuring people living with myasthenia are not alone, helping to raise awareness of the condition and also funding vital research, so that we can one day find a cure for myasthenia.
