About Us

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is an independent charity that has been supporting local people in the community who are living with a life-limiting or terminal illness for almost 40 years.

Our expert teams provide palliative and end-of-life care to each patient, supporting them and their loved ones through the most difficult times.

We receive over 1010 referrals each year and serve a catchment area covering parts of West Sussex and Hampshire. We support local people from Emsworth to Arundel, including Chichester and Bognor, and the area stretching from the coast north to Midhurst.

We take time to listen and understand the individual needs and wishes of our patients and their loved ones, to manage symptoms and help them spend more precious time with loved ones. The Living Well Centre offers a variety of therapeutic and social activities to boost wellbeing and enable visitors to live more independently for longer.

It costs over £10.5 million a year — more than £27,000 every day — to provide the high-quality care and support that we offer, which is always free of charge.

Yet we receive just 16% of our funding from the NHS, so for the rest we rely on the generosity of our community.
