A brighter view for Pirate Pete 

Pirate Pete first came to our attention in mid-October, grazing in a large field with another young colt. It was clear something wasn’t right — our Field Officer could see Pete had an injury to his eye which was causing him significant discomfort. No owner could be traced so, with growing concern for Pete’s eye, we knew we needed to take action. 

We sought urgent veterinary treatment and, with the authorities’ help, got Pete the immediate care he desperately needed. Sadly, his eye was too damaged to save and had to be removed to end his pain.       

Thankfully, most horses adapt well to having just one eye and Pete is no exception. Now safe at our farm in Norfolk, Pete is settling in well, taking everything in his stride and finally receiving the comfort and care he needs for a new fresh beginning.
