Help horses like Puddle and win £4,000 cash in our Summer Raffle

Stormy and Puddle were discovered roaming on a derelict farm fending for themselves. Their story began with a heartbreaking report: three ponies left to survive on their own. Tragically, help came too late for one. The body of a young stallion, weakened by malnutrition, was found in one of the streams running across the land. Our Field Officer, Penny, wasted no time in setting the wheels in motion to remove the two surviving ponies to the safety of our Glenda Spooner Rescue and Rehoming Farm in Somerset.

Their overgrown hooves were cracked and weak, and although Puddle was nervous it was clear these biddable ponies simply longed to be cared for. Stormy’s prolonged neglect resulted in a diagnosis of secondary nutritional hyperparathyroidism, which weakened her bones. The team rallied to support her diet, which couldn’t have been more urgent - as we discover so often Stormy – who we think is Puddle’s mother - was also pregnant.

Thankfully Stormy’s foal will never face the fear and uncertainty that these two innocent ponies endured and of course that ended so tragically for the young stallion. The two cobs and the foal all have a promise of lifelong security as part of the World Horse Welfare family. But there are still so many out there who need us to be there.

By playing our raffle today you’re not only in with a chance of winning £4,000 but you will give this gift to other horses, ponies, donkeys and foals in desperate need.
